29 Oct 09 Target Marketing Your Internet E-Commerce

It is one of the supreme ironies of the Internet that the computer, so long derided as impersonal, is now being used to create highly personal experiences for Web site visitors. Because a computer can sift through vast amounts of existing information according to preprogrammed rules, computers can now take company information (or special interest information) and combine it with information supplied by prospective customers and digest it in a way that is meaningful to each individual.
What are the best ways for businesses to personalize selling and customize products in order to build business. Although many of these methods are still in their infancy, a great deal can be gleaned as to current strategies and technologies and techniques and strategies can be implemented.

To attract new customers, companies can now establish Web sites that provide highly individualized recommendations based on information provided by the customer. In this way, it’s possible to tell a prospective customer exactly which product, among a plethora of possibilities, is just right for that individual or that business. The strategic idea behind these efforts is clear: By empowering the customer with information about how a specific offering meets his or her needs, the company positions itself as a knowledgeable place to buy and also demonstrates how its products are just right for that individual customer.

This information, properly used, gives an existing supplier or retailer a clear leg up on the competition: The Company is able to use its information to establish itself as the supplier of choice and to suggest services to existing customers before they request them. Companies can maintain effectively private Web sites for individual clients so that they can both provide extraordinary service and recommend new products that will be of value to these customers.

In the past, this type of personalized communication was virtually impossible: Retailers and suppliers lacked the detailed information necessary to provide these recommendations and the ability to cost-effectively communicate it to individual customers.

However, today we have moved into an era where technology allows firms to cater to the individual needs of customers in a way that have not been possible before. The value of these initiatives, both in tightening the bonds with existing customers and in attracting new customers, is high. Another business tool made possible by the Internet is something that previously was available only to the wealthy: product customization, done quickly and inexpensively.

How are companies making use of several levels of “personal” recommendations ?

In adopting any strategy based on personalization, privacy is a central issue. The ability to make the customer feel comfortable enough to give you the information you need to create a tailored product or solution is among the primary challenges companies must overcome.

1) The Web’s ability to help companies establish marketing intimacy is possible because a Web site combines five elements:

2) An opportunity to present information in an interactive format, permitting customers to express their preferences to the owner of the Web site

3) Virtually costless online communications between the potential buyer and seller

4) A visual component that lets potential buyers see prospective purchases and how they would appear if personalized The ability to store tremendous amounts of personal information about their customers

5) An unprecedented ability to create systems that configure products so that costly errors are eliminated, thus reducing the expense of creating custom products

Presently, one-to-one selling can be viewed in two general categories, recommending and customization.

Brick-and-mortar companies have long known that for the most part, either a motivated buyer has done a great deal of research on a particular product, or a product has been enthusiastically recommended by a friend or business associate. This knowledge leads to two keys to establishing a Web site that motivates buying:

Ample information (so that the buyer needn’t do any more research—and, in the process, possibly depart your Web site for another)

A positive recommendation. In the past effective recommendations were generally person to person, there are several reasons why these technology-based recommendations are valued now. One has to do with the dizzying array of choices that now faces consumers. A cosmetics firm may offer hundreds of shades of lipstick or eye shadow; financial services companies have become true supermarkets filled with choices; well-known cold remedies now have multiple versions that end with words such as “plus” and “sinus” and “cough.”

A generation ago, the dilemma posed by the array of choices was generally solved through one-on-one interaction (selling, if you will). Someone with a cold would have stopped by his or her local pharmacy and chatted with the pharmacist about which of the three or four cold remedies carried by the pharmacy would be best.

Depending on your product and customer, several types of recommending functions may work best. But first, let’s take a moment to consider how to judge effectiveness..

Personalization, like any business initiative, should be used judiciously. There are real costs that accompany developing personalized applications: They range from the hard cost of development dollars to the cost of disappointing customers or prospects who expected a better experience. It’s important to assess whether a personalization effort will be effective and contribute meaningfully to new sales or customer retention before investing the time and money in bringing it to market.

The criteria for establishing an effective recommendation system are different for every product. The system chosen is dependent upon a balance of the following: (1) the nature of the product, (2) the amount of information needed from the potential buyer to make an effective recommendation, and (3) the likely willingness of the prospective buyer to share this needed information with you.

Will consumers will trust the information they receive from companies on the Web as much as (or more than) they trust sales representatives? All evidence to date suggests the answer is yes. People believe that no trusted brand will risk its good name by posting misleading information on the Web.
As you go about creating an online recommendation system, your overriding goal should be to make the online shopping experience better than what a customer might encounter in the physical world. Therefore, you need to ask yourself: “What can my company accomplish using this medium that can’t be accomplished in the physical world?”

Payment issues online seemed to have been taken care of by the credit card companies as a matter of routine.

What about issues of privacy? Consider gathering data anonymously. Recommendation systems that provide advice to consumers anonymously are likely to be far more popular and, therefore, more effective. In these cases, you are able to provide the prospective buyer with value without needing to jump the hurdle of “you can trust me with this information.”

If you’d prefer to record the identities of site visitors, you are one step ahead if you are a recognized brand. Consumers are already predisposed to believe in your company name. In this case, address the privacy issue head-on with a statement that precedes your online registration form: “The information gathered here is to help us better serve you; we will not share or sell this information to anyone.”

Finally, if you plan to share customer data with others, then you need to be explicit about it and receive the customer’s permission. The worst thing you can do is fail to inform the customer that some piece of information you determine about him or her may be used in some way the customer does not expect.

Product customization is possible because of a convergence of two elements: the Web as a one-to-one communications technology and manufacturing processes that allow for the development and delivery of custom products.

Designing your own custom desktop computer at Web sites such as Dell has become “commonplace,” but what about designing your own swimsuit or, perhaps, golf clubs? These customized services provide several valuable benefits for companies: (1) They help to drive new business, and (2) customers are willing to pay a premium price for an individually designed product, which means these products and services sometimes have higher profit margins than standard offerings.

The ability to interact with customers and say, “I can create the product that is just right for you,” is one of the most powerful features of the Web. Expansion of this Internet capability will be the inevitable result of the combination of (1) manufacturers creating products that permit increasing customization, (2) further advances in computing power at ever decreasing costs, and (3) new software that is continuously enhancing the options available to businesses to personalize.

Smart companies realize that the more involved the relationship becomes with the customer, the better their rate of retention. They are implementing this strategy in a wide variety of creative ways, involving both personalization and customization, and will certainly enhance their applications significantly over time:

1). Companies are creating extraordinary convenience for customers and establishing systems to speed the fulfillment of custom orders.

2). E-mail communications and reminder systems are going to be used increasingly.

The ultimate goal of every business is to have a customer who wants to hear from the business about new products that he or she might want to buy. E-mail, for the first time, provides this type of powerful tool, since it’s an almost costless communications vehicle.

3). In business-to-business selling, smart companies are also linking tightly to their customers.
Leading-edge technology companies are offering custom password-protected Web sites for their corporate accounts and high-volume small business accounts. These sites are typically designed to simplify the buying process, and they offer

(1) customer online malls offering products preselected by the company to be bought by employees at volume discount prices,

(2) electronic mail links to account managers responsible for serving that customer,

(3) the ability to track the status of orders, and

(4) dramatic increases in the speed of order fulfillment through the elimination of paper forms and a reduction in errors.

This is a clear way of providing customers with additional value and of tying the customer more closely to your company. Most companies will also see an increase in revenues from these accounts.

What was called for, of course, was a new category of employee: “e-mail respondents”; yet no one wanted to add staff at an additional expense to a project that was in its infancy.
Enter “response software.”

Several intelligent software systems, are able to routinely handle and route questions, so there is no excuse for underserving your customers with the first and most basic customer service—answering their questions.

Companies who are successfully managing their e-mail via electronic means are also taking the opportunity to benefit from the Knowledge they glean.Companies are finally transforming their Web sites from marketing brochures to vehicles that turn visits into sales leads. Those who develop a Web presence and fail to respond to electronic inquiries in a timely manner run the risk of losing existing and new customers.

Industry research also shows that only 30 percent of Fortune 500 companies respond to questions directed to these companies through their Web sites, which means a large number of customers aren’t getting the personal attention winning companies need to provide.

As you consider the possibilities offered by personalization and customization, I suggest that these initiatives be weighed against these criteria: Will the initiative enhance relationships with my customers by adding convenience or a better ability to meet their needs? Will the initiative result in potentially high cost-savings for my organization Will intelligent product configuration eliminate and reduce costly order errors and help to target vital marketing efforts directed at the customer base entity?

29 Oct 09 Making Money On The Web: The Truth Revealed

I am an avid internet user; I love the fact that there is information on almost any topic that you could think of at the tips of your fingers. Through my journeys on the information highway, I have several times come across “Make money on the internet!” “Free and easy program, make over $2100 a day”. They trickled in slowly, but lately I have noticed them more and more. Ads, banners, and junk e-mail as far as the eye can see filled with promises of making huge amounts of money, working part time hours from home.

So what is the truth? What is a scam and what is legitimate work that you can make real money with? Through some countless hours I have found some answers and insight into making money on line. First of all, if you are looking for something totally free, no money at all; then keep looking with even the most legit opportunities cost something to start up. Secondly, going into any business venture looking to “get-rich-quick” is unrealistic, everything takes time. Do not think that you are going to be able to retire in a few weeks, it rarely if ever happens that way.

So, you decide you want to give working on the internet a shot. There are a few things to remember. Most of what people are selling is information. There are thousands of the same sites out there that have self-created themselves as middlemen. For example, there are a lot of ads to earn money taking surveys. They advertise on average of $25 per survey that you complete. They charge anywhere from $10-$60 for a one time membership fee. But, what they do not tell you often times or bury in the fine print is that all they do is give you some tips to making money with surveys and a listing of survey sites. They do not pay you, they do not give you the surveys, and they more or less just point you in the right direction. If you keep digging a bit through the search engines you can find several free sites that offer critiques and listing of the best survey sites that pay out money. Most of the survey site, if not all offers free membership to take surveys.

Most of the data entry jobs that I looked into were all about the same things…..placing ads. You pay a company anywhere from $30-$200 for them to tell you how to place pay-per-click ads. The deal with these companies is that that they are so vague, like many of the companies out there, that there is no way for you to know that all they do is give you directions and by the way most of the pay per click site have their own directions that are exactly those that the company’s sell you. They also advertise that they give you access to a catalog of employers seeking data entry. What they do not tell you is that they give you a link to a FREE catalog that anyone can get by joining a site for FREE.

Say you get frustrated trying to wade through all the information, you decide to break down and pay for one of the sites that is suppose to have all the secrets. Here are a few recommendations:

1) Shop around. Often times there are 50 sites that are all selling the same thing. I ran across countless sites that were identical in appearance and text, they all where selling the same information. The highest price was $199 and the lowest was $49, chances are there is a lower price out there if you keep looking.

2) Exhaust all the free information that is out there. There are free sites or every very low priced membership. I found several site that were under $10 for membership. If you decide to pay for a membership make sure you know what you are getting with your membership and then compare to other similar sites.

3) If you have questions as to what you will get with your membership or for the price that you are paying…ASK. Most sites have a “contact us” link, use it. If they can not answer your questions directly or continue to be too vague, chances they are not selling anything new that someone couldn’t find themselves.

4) Educate yourself. Do a search engine search on “data entry scams”, it will usually pull up articles, customer/member feedback and other free information, so you can find the right choice for you.

There are some legitimate ways to make money out there, take some time and research your options. Look for sites that offer free or reduced membership trials so you can decide if it is worth what they are asking. Also, look for programs or member sites that offer a money back guarantee and find out what the refund policy is.

If you are in pursuit of making money on the internet, you can be successful by remembering that the old adage “if it’s too good to be true, then it usually is” still rings true; even in this high tech virtual world that everyone is plugged into.

29 Oct 09 Making Effective Use Of Long Tail Terms

If you haven’t heard of the “long tail”, the phrase was made famous by a book written by Chris Anderson with the same name. It refers to the statistical graph where the line is skewed to the right without ever reaching zero on the horizontal scale. Essentially, it’s an infinite line.

In Anderson’s book, he explains how the Internet is circumventing every aspect of consumer choice. Before the Internet, consumers didn’t have much choice. We simply took what the media and retailers presented and gave up on our own “custom” desires.

After I read the book, I thought about how the long tail applies to effective search engine rankings and placements.

Below I describe how anyone with a website can make use of the long tail.

Effective Use of Long Tail Terms

Let me describe what it means to use a long tail term. If you’re selling shoes, an obvious keyword that you might want to target is “shoes”. Now, if you’re a small shoe seller, you probably won’t have the time or money it would take to get in the top 10 search results for the term shoes.

But, let’s say that you sell a highly niched type a shoe. Maybe you sell shoes for people who have had leg or knee injuries. Or, maybe you make custom boots for soldiers or cowboys. I know of several people who only buy custom boots so it’s not unheard of.

Rather than trying to hit a highly competitive keyword like shoes, you would want to go after a phrase like “custom cowboy boots” or “shoes for knee injuries”.

You might be thinking that there’s not enough traffic for these terms to bring you any kind of sales. However that’s exactly how the long tail process works. You don’t want a lot of traffic from a single keyword phrase. You want a little traffic from a bunch of smaller, less searched keywords.

To continue my example, if you have a small shoe store, you could search your inventory and note the different types of shoes you have. Or, maybe you could start to diversify into these different types of shoes, especially is you have good wholesalers.

Let’s say one of your keywords brings 100 website visitors per month. Let’s also say that you have a great website, with great copy, and you’re able to convert 5% of your visitors. So, five people will buy per 100 visitors. Of course, you can’t stay in business with only 5 sales per month.

In fact, you may have to sell several hundred pairs of shoes just to break even or make a little profit. But the story doesn’t end there. Now, let’s say you have 10 of those long tail keywords. Each one of those keywords brings in 100 visitors per month. So, now you have 1,000 visitors per month reaching your website. If we leave the same conversion rate, 5%, then these 10 keywords will net you 50 sales per month.

The key to this process is 1) knowing how to niche your products and 2) knowing how to convert your visitors once they’ve made it to your site. It doesn’t make any sense to bring 1,000 people to your website and not be able to convert them into buyers.

So, your goal as a long tail marketer is to snap up as much as the “little” traffic that you can get. You’re not trying to compete with big-box retailers or websites. There’s traffic that large websites don’t get because they don’t sell what people are looking for. That becomes your job.

There are people who are looking for custom shoes, custom boots, or a customized experience. It’s your job to look at what you have to offer and to think beyond the obvious keyword terms. There are hundreds, probably thousands, of keyword niches that very few people are competing for.

As an example, someone mentioned that my daughter looked like her “kewpie doll”. Keep in mind I had no idea what a kewpie doll even looked like. So, I did some research in Google. Come to find out, there are about 5,000 searches on the term kewpie doll per month. Guess what? The number one result for the term kewpie doll is a parked page someone is trying to sell. There is almost ZERO competition for this keyword term. It would be fairly easy to get ranked in the top 10 search results for this term. If I knew how to start a kewpie doll business, I would definitely go for the number one position. With a good website, anyone could convert 10% of the website visitors. That’s a potential of 500 sales per month!

As you can see, combining effective use of long tail keyword phrases with a solid converting website can help you tap into previously untouched markets, unfilled needs, and diversify into thousands of niche areas.

29 Oct 09 Success Depends On Effective Internet Marketing Services

Ebusiness is a rapidly-growing industry that can turn a nice profit for any business. The internet is a valuable tool and resource for companies and business ventures, but one drawback of the internet is fierce, world-wide competition that makes survival crucial to staying successful. While many individuals choose to build their own ebusiness and create websites to sell their products and services, effective marketing is the only reason companies survive. Most people don’t have the skills or knowledge on how to securely promote their company to stay above the pack. Getting lost in the virtual world and missing out on sales from potential clients due to stiff competition winning out means that strong internet marketing services are imperative for long-term success.

One of the most important factors in having a successful ebusiness is achieving hits from surfers and readers to promote website popularity and boost ranks in search engines. A simple search returns thousands, sometimes millions, of links and most individuals only consider the first page of link returns that their search engine provides. Solid internet marketing services means that your ebusiness rises in rank towards that all-important first page of search engines. Ultimately, strong internet marketing services mean profits, income, recognition and awareness to increase your enterprise’s popularity and securely root your site where it needs to be.

There are many ways to boost your site’s popularity. Article marketing is the latest trend, and having excellent articles that are search-engine optimized using careful keyword placement, all the while having documents that maintain an informed, professional and interesting appeal, drastically improve your website’s chances of success. However, article marketing requires high-quality writing, is time-consuming and has to be continually analyzed for results and adjusted to be the most effective possible. Having a professional company handle your article marketing strategy is the only way to contend with your competitors and meet challenges head-on, unless you plan to invest a large amount of time and effort that ultimately keeps you tied up and away from landing sales.

Blogs are another strong internet marketing service that has shown to be popular with Generation X and younger individuals. Blogging is similar to article marketing, in that articles relevant to your enterprise and ebusiness need to be distributed widely and effectively across the virtual world. The continual stream of information blogs provide responds perfectly to the Generation X population’s need for fast, concise information. The results of blog marketing have proven to be an excellent method of boosting website search engine ranking and popularity, drawing in clientele. But again, as with article marketing, the time and need for top-quality appeal is crucial to effective blog marketing and most business owners need to focus on their own company. Leaving the promotion and marketing to professionals so that you have your hands free to deal with your business saves you both time and money, factors that are imperative to business survival.

Press releases are another strong way to boost search engine ranking, drawing thousands of readers and potential clients to your website. Press releases that are properly written to catch attention and carefully placed to maximize exposure improve your company’s reputation. Showing clients who you are and what you can offer, as well as impressing them with solid business tactics and strategies, will provide your website with a steady stream of traffic to increase your chances of getting known in the virtual world. While the time and effort of creating and submitting press releases is lower than article and blog marketing, only the highest-quality press releases get noticed by consumers and consulting professional internet marketing services for the best results is a smart business choice.

Choosing a reputable internet marketing services for your business is important. While you want to concentrate on your clients, sales and landing potential contracts or customers, you need to have confidence in the promotion companies you deal with. Make sure to ask plenty of questions about the options any marketing business provides and take the time to discuss both costs and results with internet marketing service providers. Qualifications and experience are important, so be sure that the marketing company you deal with has the knowledge to perform effective analysis and adapt changes, as well as having a solid, strong network that places your business where individuals will take notice. Dealing with professionals that save you time and money, providing tangible results that boost your ranking and sales, will be one of the wisest choices you make for your business success.

29 Oct 09 The Pros And Cons In Using Adwords To Boost Your Adsense Revenue

For many webmasters, Google AdSense has become a great revenue generator. Since the program pays the webmaster every time a visitor of their website clicks on the ads that Google displays in their web pages, the same has become a truly viable and profitable option to earn a living online. As a matter of fact, there are countless webmasters who have dropped their day jobs so that they could focus on the AdSense program. They build dozens and dozens of websites, all of which carry their AdSense code, hoping to generate amazing earnings from such an approach. After all, if one website can generate $25 per month (a low average at that), how much could 100 websites be able to produce for the webmaster?

But success with the Google AdSense program is contingent on three things:

1. Cost Per Click (CPC) attached to the ads that will be displayed;
2. Page impressions, or the number of people who will get to visit the website; and
3. Click Through Rate (CTR), or the ratio of people who will click on the ads vis a vis page impressions.

The CPC can be approximated by checking out the going rate of the keyword to be targeted before building a website. The resource that can be found at http://www.adsensearena.com is an excellent tool to help anyone in determining the possible CPC for certain search words or phrases.

The CTR can be improved by arranging the AdSense blocks in a manner that would make them look like organic parts of the website.

But page impressions would be a little more difficult to achieve.

Page impressions are actually equivalent to what is generally known as web traffic. Web traffic, of course, refers to the volume of users who manages to load up a particular page of your website. It has been said that traffic is the lifeblood of any online venture, and this couldn’t be truer for websites that earn via Pay Per Click (PPC) programs.

In a nutshell, the success of your Google AdSense campaign would depend on the volume of traffic you’ll be able to generate for your website, or websites.

You could try a lot of marketing tactics, but often, these strategies take time to gestate. Additionally, each and every competitor of yours would be trying out the same techniques, and there is no real guarantee about how much traffic you could derive from them.

This has led many webmasters to try out PPC advertising for their PPC earning campaigns. The way it goes is that they will advertise their websites through Google AdWords. Google will then display their links the way it displays AdSense ads. The webmasters who decide to take this route would then have to pay Google every time a user clicks on the ads that lead to their websites.

How do these webmasters earn, when they’re supposed to spend for every click?

Well, most of them build websites that are exclusively made up of AdSense ads. Hence, whenever a user is led to their pages, he’d have no choice but to click on the relevant ads that appear therein.

There are some webmasters, on the other hand, who rely on the strength of their content. They use AdWords to expose their websites to people, hoping that those very users would love what they’ll see and they’ll keep coming back every now and then.

There are pros and cons to this strategy, however. Let’s take a look at the advantages first.

• You will attain guaranteed traffic.
• You will attain highly targeted traffic. Since your visitors will be composed of people who are interested with the subject of you website, there is a higher likelihood that they will click on the ads that would appear on your pages.
• You will only have to pay for the traffic that your website would receive. Nothing more, nothing less.

But it’s not rosy for this approach. Here are the disadvantages.

• You’d have to spend.
• There is no guarantee that you’ll be able to recoup your financial investments.
• Google is cracking down on websites that are merely composed of AdSense ad blocks. If you opt to use this approach, and your website is composed exclusively of AdSense ads, chances are, your website would get de-indexed and your AdSense account would get suspended if Google catches you.

The best way to go is to rely on the strength of your website. Prepare unique, premium content and hook your visitors with the same. Content is king in the World Wide Web, after all.

If you decide to use AdWords to get some traffic, make sure you have a mailing list in place to capture their contact details and ensure for yourself some repeat visitors. PPD advertising should only be used to gain initial traffic, until your other marketing strategies would finally produce the desired results.

29 Oct 09 The Field Of Dreams – You Can Market Your Website At Next To No Cost

In the film ‘Field Of Dreams’, Kevin Costner’s character was told ‘If you build it they will come’. Providing you have done the necessary search engine submissions, this will be true for most websites – eventually! Problem is, most of us want it done faster and more easily than that, which is why affiliate schemes are hugely. However, the key, as it is to any business, is to attract (and keep) customers quickly. Problem is how can you do this if you have next to no budget?

I have had a Plug In Profit (PIP) site for a couple of weeks now. I chose PIP because I truly believed (and still do) that it was the best of the ‘internet guru’ schemes and the most likely to make me money. However, due to a very small budget (and little available time) I have had to think long and hard about how I attract visitors, and more importantly targeted traffic, people who are likely to ‘sign-up’ (and make me money by doing so). Although the suggestions below refer to PIP, you could apply them to virtually any internet scheme you are running.

The strength of PIP is that it has been established for so long – there are many PIP sites out there, there is a strong support network and it is a proven product. However, its strength gives new PIP members a problem, especially if their budget is limited. How do you get people to sign up to your site if there are many PIP sites out there? This is a classic Catch 22 (if you’ll pardon another film/book reference) – how are you going to attract visitors if you have almost zero budget, and how can you attract new customers who haven’t ‘seen it all before’?

Basically, if you are going to commit to and run your PIP site to its full potential you really need to sign up to all the affiliates on offer. Add hosting costs and you don’t have a lot of change from $100/£50 per month. Of course, if you attract visitors, get them to signup then you will start making money – but what if your budget (like me) is only $100/£50 per month?

Here are some of my suggestions which I am just starting to put into practice. If these take off (and I am sure they will) then the intent is to plough back any profits into a higher budget campaign. Speculate to accumulate is all very well, but it is important not to spend more in time and money than you can afford. With that in mind, here are ten almost zero or low cost (under $20/£10) strategies which I am aiming to put in place over the next couple of weeks. You can find more details about most of them in the PIP training (if you signup).

i) Write an article (such as this one!) and manually submit it to the article distributors described in the PIP training (note: you can also get this automated starting at around $20 per month for 5 articles per month. This will save you a lot of time and I would say it is worth it). Because your article is automatically very widely distributed to directories and the like, it has the potential to appear on other people’s websites for years to come. This seems to me to be about the most powerful form of low cost advertising you can do.

ii) Join a PIP support. The WarriorsPro forum is free when you signup. You will get lots of support here, be able to post questions (and answers if you have them). Both new and experienced are here and you can benefit greatly by participating.

iii) Publish a Blog – you can get a blog site for free these days and use it to promote your website. You can publish articles to your blog and then distribute it across the web.

iv) Tell your friends and family – a tricky one this as my view is that I will only attempt to sell to friends and family a process which I know works and will benefit them. I have not had any signups so far, so while I think it will make money, I so far have no proof. Having considered it I think the best way would be to send a simple eMail explaining the system and it then becomes them opting in by responding (rather than you trying to ‘sell’ directly). Of course once I really do start making real money, I will gladly spread the word)!

v) Include a link or banner advertisement for your PIP signup page or website on any website you run – it may be you are promoting a product or selling items on your website – why not include a page entitled ‘home business opportunities’. It may be that you can promote a site promoting something completely different (with lower advertising costs) and and at the same time promote your plug-in-profit site.

vi) Use local classifieds/free adverts – online. Do an online search for ‘free advertising’ (or some equivalent search term ) within your country or local area and place a free advert. (note: the examples in the training are more globally based, chances are you will be able to find a route locally, or within your country, where nobody has advertised PIP before)

vii) Use local classifieds/free adverts – offline. As ‘online’ but local newspapers, free papers, message boards etc.

viii) Distribute your ‘signup page’ locally. Print out 100 copies (or more) of your PIP ‘signup’ page (you will get this when you signup). Make sure you include your affiliate link on the page. Go round the local supermarket or car park putting the page under windscreen wipers of the parked car (check if you need to ask permission to do this). As an alternative you could produce another splash page in your own words with a more ‘local’ feel.

ix) eMail signature. Put a small advert as a ‘signature’ on your eMails and include a link to your signup page. Whenever you send out an eMail your recipient will have an option to ‘opt-in’ by clicking on the link. . (note: be careful at work though – you may not be allowed to do this!)

x) Design a screensaver or a car sticker advertising your site. Make sure you include your affiliate link. It is surprising what you will read and pick up inadvertently if you are stuck in a traffic jam or looking over someone’s shoulder on a train.

These suggestions can be applied to any website of course, but if I have whetted your appetite for PIP then please do check it out at the link below.

29 Oct 09 The Internet Journey, Our Secret To Success

It all starts with a dream, a DESIRE, if you will.

Let me tell you a story. This story is not so much about the internet, it is about a person. This journey begins about 13 years ago when the internet was in its infancy, for the most part.

Let me take you back! It’s the mid 1990’s. Everywhere you look, people are down on their luck, looking for a better way and taking a chance. They make it big and the next thing you know, they’re selling you their IDEA and telling you how easy it is, and if they can do it, so can you. All you have to do is pay the $10.00 and they’ll show you how. The problem is, if it’s so easy, why isn’t everyone doing it, and if they’re making so much money, why do they need my 10 bucks? This can’t work, “it’s got to be a scam!”. So, I buy into it, “hey, for 10 bucks, maybe I’ll catch a break”. So, a couple of weeks go by and I get the package in the mail. I take a quick look at it and put it down on the bookcase as I’m leaving the house for work. I haven’t seen it since. I don’t know why, I guess it just wasn’t that important to me. You laugh, huh?, I did this kind of thing all the time!

A few years go by, all the hype is about these DotCom Guys and how much money they made on the internet. You know, “the overnight wonders”, I don’t know too much about them other then they were gone just as quick as they got there. I hear rumors they over spent? But now is about the time when every Corporation and Businesses were showing up all over the internet. You know, expanding their MARKET. Makes sense to me, now they could sell their products/service all over the world.

The next thing you know, everyone’s doing business on the internet. It just explodes! Ma & Pa’s Smoke Shop down the corner has a website and they are selling cigars by the case to customers 100’s or 1000’s miles away, heck, they’re probably even using a Drop-ship company to send the products, and they’re raking in the dough. Everyone’s making money on the internet and they all have a PLAN.

Me, well things have changed in my life in the past 13 years. I have a family now, more responsibility and it seems I’m working all the time. I never have time for myself. The only time I get to go out is to a family event or once every couple of months, the wife and I get a night out to dinner. I can’t remember the last time we even went to the movies. Oh, I remember the good old days, but, they are just memories now. Let me ask you a question. Does the person in this story sound like YOU? Yah!, I thought so.

So, this is what I did. I decided that I wanted a piece of my dreams and if everyone was making money on the internet, so could I. I took ACTION, I was determined to find a better way. Almost immediately, I started seeing Free (let me say that again-Free) information all over the internet about starting a home-based business. Well I thought to myself, what kind of product or service do I sell, with today’s technology, hear today and gone tomorrow, where should I start. And then I start seeing things everywhere about becoming an Affiliate (no product and no service to sell), just promoting other peoples websites. Let them sell their products and give me a commission for sending the customers to them. That’s exactly what I did. I even found a place to get my own website (so I didn’t have to learn how to do my own), all I had to do was sign up for 5 Affiliate programs (which I did, 3 of them where free, but the other 2 were a couple bucks but they pay commissions to me every month) and then I advertise (some of that is even free). Pretty good deal! Well every month, I spend a little more (out of my commissions) on advertising and oh-yah!, I quit my job. Now I’m enjoying my life and so is my family. I have some other things going on with the internet now and I’m making money. That’s the bottom line!

Did you see our Secret to Success in the story? No, Ok, scroll up the article and find the Bold typed words (never mind, I’ll just tell you). The DESIRE, an IDEA, find the MARKET, make a PLAN and most importantly, take ACTION! The moral of the story is you can sit back and watch life pass you by and never change anything, but when you’re ready to follow your dreams, I mean when you want something better out of life, then it will be your time to TAKE ACTION. Then, the next step of your journey can begin.

29 Oct 09 The Future Value Of Your Blog

All the hype about the sale of Weblogs Inc. to America Online (AOL) has given rise to the now famous question – How much is your blog worth? In acquiring Weblogs Inc., AOL has provided some concrete metrics to future valuation of blogs. How much will traditional media be willing to pay for a blog? Conversely, how much would you sell your blog for?

AOL-Weblogs Inc. Deal – Benchmark for Future Blog Valuation

Weblogs Inc was established by Jason Calacanis and Brian Alvey in 2003. It is a network of blogs which includes under its wings successful blogs such as Engadget and Autoblog. Jason Calacanis pointed out that Weblogs Inc. earns in excess of $1 million yearly in Google Adsense revenues alone.

AOL purchased Weblogs Inc. for a confidential sum assessed at somewhere between $25 – $40 million. After said purchase, Tristan Louis came up with a blog valuation scheme based on the deal. He created a chart of blog value using the value of each inbound link to Weblogs Inc. as the basis. It is common knowledge that blog readers follow links. Search engines also act as users and primarily determine blog quality rankings based on linkage data thus direct and indirect value links are a great proxy for value measurement. In the blogosphere, conversations that nurture connectivity represented by links and indexes like Technorati give a vantage view of the value of a blog.

Tristan Louis itemized the publicly available data (list of blogs indexed) at Weblogs Inc. network including the number of inbound links (Technorati blog numbers) per blog divided by the purchase price to determine the value of an inbound link to a blog. At the rumored price of $25 million, the estimated value is $ 564 per link. At $30 million, it is $677.57 per link and $903.42 at an acquisition price of $40 million. Interestingly, the consumer segment chalks up the biggest percentage of linkage. Engadget represents over a third of the overall network traffic.

Applying Tristan Louis’s Weblogs Inc, sale, Dave Winer has also sold http://Weblogs.com to Verisign for a rumored price of around $2 million. Blog entrepreneur Nick Denton, founder of Gawker Media has signed a deal with VNU Media to publish Gizmodo (gadget blog) across Europe in six languages. VNU Media is a leading worldwide information and media company which owns ACNielsen, Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, among others. With this deal, blog publishing has hit big time.

However, the value of a blog is not calculated based solely on links using AOL’s purchase of Weblogs Inc. Jason Calacanis, the man behind Weblogs Inc., disputed using links alone as proxy for the value of the blog network. He reiterated that the acquisition price was based also on the ever reliable revenue, earnings, management and other metrics.

Tristan Louis based his valuation scheme on links to a blog but he also acknowledged the significance of technology, talented management team, financial performance and growth. There is direct correlation between links, traffic, revenue and earnings capacity of a blog or blog network but it takes sound management to maximize all these potentials.

Value of a Blog – Some Metrics to Consider

How much is your blog worth? There is no one standard gauge yet. But one way to measure the value is to look at certain factors to gain a better perspective on how to measure the future value of a blog.

Aside from number of links as mentioned earlier, traffic level is a key factor in determining blog value. Highly trafficked blogs definitely have a bigger potential for earning compared with those blogs with few readership. A blog’s success is highly dependent on visitors/readers. However, ascertaining the value of traffic is a thorny issue. Some bloggers value traffic anywhere from $3 to $10 per hit a day. From this data, a blog with 2000 unique visitors (page views) would be worth between $6000 to $20,000. The downside to this valuation approach is that some traffic is more valuable than others. A personal blog might have 1000 unique visitors but more difficult to convert to revenue than a blog with 1000 readers that blogs on the topic of digital cameras.

Aside from diverse traffic streams that come from bookmarks, direct links or RSS subscribers will make risk of losing traffic low. Social bookmarking sites are inching their way to becoming prime sources of traffic, with peer referral at times carrying more weight than search results. There are a number of well known bookmarking sites you should link to. Top bookmarking sites include Furl, http://del.icio.us, Diggs, to name a few. By leaving an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed, you can feed you readers’ desire for information. Visitors can get automatic updates whenever you provide new content. Having a fairly good base of bookmarkers and subscribers ensure a steady flow of fans and repeat readers – the all-important traffic.

In the blogosphere as in any other field, revenue or earnings is a major focus. a logical approach to blog valuation would be to base its worth upon current and projected earnings, assuming that your blog is earning something to start with. Again, there are varying views on how to use current earnings to measure a blog’s value.

Some bloggers opine you should expect six to eight months earnings as your blog value. A blog with a daily income of $150 would be worth between $27,000 – $36,000. Still, others determine a blog’s value as being two years of current earnings. A blog earning $150 a day would be worth $108,000. Again, there is a huge disparity between these methods of assessing value. Having diverse streams in the form of multiple affiliate programs also increases blog revenue. An affiliate program is an advertising model in which a blog owner markets via his blog a given product, on behalf of another company. The blog owner is reimbursed a percentage of all sales sold thru his affiliate link. Reimbursement rates can vary from 1% and upwards. Google Adsense is a prime example.

Visitors access blogs throughout the Internet primarily through search engines. If your blog does not have a post appearing in the top ten search engine rankings, the chances of visitors reaching your blog is low. A blog’s presence on relevant search engines is a significant medium for maintaining a blog’s success. Search engine ranking and pages indexed in search engines is critical for generating traffic to a blog. Having your blog among the top results of a search or receiving a high Google PageRank (a system for ranking blog posts) would increase your blog’s overall value.

High quality content will always be a key factor for determining a blog’s value. As has been said time and time again – Content is King. Moreover, search engines can only “read” a blog. What attracts a search engine are the words, the content of a blog that explains, informs, shares and educates readers. Good content increases blog value.

All these aforementioned objective metrics can be considered in assessing the value of a blog. Added to all these, a talented management team behind a blog, its underlying tools and blog technology in use can further help to estimate the future value of a blog.

29 Oct 09 Subscription Overload

When I first started out online, like many ‘newbies’ I was overwhelmed by the amount of free knowledge and learning that was available just by signing up to a free newsletter or e-course, and so that’s what I did…

…a lot.

As I went about my daily surfing I took every opportunity to subscribe to ‘10 Steps To This’ and ‘7 Ways To That’

And what about the free downloads? It is a well known list building technique to offer a free e-book as an incentive to release your name and email address, and while this is a perfectly legitimate system, what it does is add fuel to the fire of your enthusiasm.

In the beginning I found all these newsletters to be a great way to access information and find out what the next big thing was or to get some free tips on how to improve my ad copy or grow my list. But as time went on I began to notice a few things.

Many of the lists that I belonged to started to send out very similar content in their newsletters. I found that as soon as I had just finished reading about why I should visit this site and sign up for X I would have another email from another guru advising me to do exactly the same thing.
While this did help to strengthen the message I really wasn’t interested in reading yet another 5 minute story just to be told the same thing twice (or more).

Also as time went on my inbox became increasing filled with the names of many people that I did not recognise. Clearly I had subscribed to their newsletter at some point and for some reason but with so many emails coming in it was hard to remember what it was I thought I could learn from this person.

And as the days went by the sheer volume of emails I received seemed to sky rocket – it can be very daunting to open up your email client and find that you have over 100 emails waiting to be read – Not to mention the time it takes to filter through them all before you actually find anything of real value to your needs.

Another thing I noticed is that as the number of legitimate emails I received increased so did the amount of spam I received.

Most people will tell you when you sign up with them that they hold your privacy in a very high regard and wont share your details with anyone, but the truth of the matter is that there will always be people who will find a way to get your name and email address from these lists and before you know it you are being bombarded with ads for diet pills and Viagra and requests from overseas to open up a bank account for someone who will then share their millions with you – Yeah right!

Luckily I have quite a good email client and they have a great spam filter and I highly recommend that you find yourself a similar service because I’m sure we can all find better ways to spend our time.

My advice to anyone finding themselves in a similar position is to stop and take a step back before you give your details to anyone. Yes there are a lot of very useful newsletters out there that really can help you to move your online business forward but instead of jumping in feet first stop and think if this information really is right for you.

Think about your business and what you and it need.

• What kind of information do you want to have access to?
• How specific to your niche do you need that information to be?
• Where is the best place to get that information from?

Then once you have those answers for yourself do a search online and find 3 or 4 newsletters in that category that you think could help you.

Your next step is then just to do a little research on the sources/writers of that information and decide who you think will be able to offer you the best quality.

If you find yourself spending half your day weeding through a multitude of emails from names that you do not remember then its time to clear the garden.

Go through and unsubscribe yourself from the lists that really don’t offer you any substance and leave yourself only with that which will help you to propel your business forward.

The more specific to your field of interest the better. For example if your business is involved in collectables and you need to know how to build a responsive email list then do a search for those keywords and find advice from someone who is already working in that field and has had success in building their own high quality list.

That way you’ll know that the information you get will be specific to your business and may also supply you with other nuggets of valuable knowledge that you would not otherwise have been privy to.

Happy Reading.

29 Oct 09 Affiliate Clickbank Make Money Program-how To Start Profiting Simply By Promoting Others Products

If you want to join an affiliate Clickbank make money program, there is a lot of money making opportunity available for you here. Very simply, in case you aren’t familiar with the Clickbank Marketplace, here is what they offer and how you can start earning cash when you join them. First of all, Clickbank is a website that offers all digital information products. There are no physical products on Clickbank.

They offer products in a wide range of categories, from making money on the internet, from the stock market, to home improvement, hobbies, sports, and just about any other how to product you can think of. Just about no matter how narrow the niche you are targeting, you can find products for it available on Clickbank.

When somebody develops an info product, they often times want affiliates to promote it for them. This is where Clickbank comes in.

Therefore, they simply take out an account with Clickbank and then Clickbank will manage all their affiliates for them without them ever having to worry about a thing. You see, if you do decide do develop and sell your own products, when it comes to managing for paying your affiliates, you can either have your own program take care of it for you or have somebody else handle this.

Very simply, doing this yourself requires quite a bit of technical know how, and this is why the Clickbank Marketplace is so popular today. For just a small fee taken out of the final dollar value the item sells for, you can have them track all your affiliates for you and pay them automatically; best yet, all it takes is a one time $50 fee if you want to submit your own product to Clickbank.

Of course, if you don’t have your own product, all you have to do is go to the Clickbank Marketplace, browse through the various product offerings, find ones that interest you, and start promoting it. This is called affiliate marketing, and it is one of the most popular forms of making money via the net today. Very simply, there are many people earning full time 6 figure and even multiple 6 figure incomes just by promoting other people’s products. Here are some effective methods for doing this.

First of all, if you are just getting started and want the absolute bare bones way to make money through Clickbank, you don’t even need your own website; all you have to do is go to Clickbank, get an affiliate tracking link for the product you want to promote, and start sending people through that link. You can get free traffic to your link by either including it in your emails you send out, posting in forums, which are two great free methods for generating traffic.

Keep in mind, if you want to get free search engine traffic through SEO, you will definitely need to create your own website and landing page where the visitor will first come to; you will have a very hard getting just your affiliate page ranked, since it will be considered duplicate content. This is also a great method if you are planning on using pay per click, because Google utilizes something known as a quality score when analyzing the relevancy and importance of your website.

If they see that you are just promoting a Clickbank product and therefore the same page as a hundred other affiliates are promote, they obviously won’t think too much of your page, and will make you pay a lot of money for clicks. However, if you develop your own landing page, write some articles on the product, and most importantly, include a privacy policy, disclaimer, about us and contact us on your home page, you will be ranked much higher in Google’s quality score index, and therefore you wont have to bid so high dollar amounts to receive clicks to your site.

Therefore, simply go to Clickbank, find a product you are interested in, take out a domain name and created a unique landing page for it, write some articles about it, create the privacy policy, disclaimer, about us and contact us, and start promoting it any way you want. A quick tip: when looking for th right internet marketing company affiliat to promote, make sure they have a good sales page to send your visitors to; without this, you can’t hope to make any money.

What consitutes a good sales page? Make sure the sales letter you are sending your visitors to only promotes one product, has plenty of testimonials, a good headline, a guarantee, an immediate call to action, etc. Hopefully this information will help you become profitable with your affiliate Clickbank make money program as quickly as possible.
